Amazon officially opens the cashless supermarket

The stores that Amazon introduced as a concept, Amazon Go, are officially launching. The first store is open today on Capitol Hill in Seattle.

The store will occupy a space of 900 square meters and it will be able to find over 5,000 products, says Vox.

However, what is most impressive about the shops is the lack of working people. Instead of employees, products and payments are made with sensors, cameras, computer recognition and a bunch of other technology.

The company has a bunch of physical locations after buying Whole Foods. However, at least for now there is no announcement that these stores will be automated. It looks like the company in this segment, at least for now, will only be satisfied with free shipping from Whole Foods to Amazon Prime subscribers.
