Toxic Positivity: Why is it not good to be constantly positive?

Being positive is very important if you want to live a fulfilling and happy life, and positivity is crucial to dealing with the challenges that face us throughout life.

You should not exaggerate with anything, however.

Toxic positivity or the need to feel positive all the time, no matter how negative your situation is, can be detrimental to you on a psychological level.

In the age of social networks, we are constantly seeing posts with a "positive attitude" or "pink outlook on life" and it is perfectly okay to be optimistic at times. But we must realize that just as important to us are the emotions that carry the hardest moments in life.

However, positivity can be toxic. If you only hope for the best, you will feel betrayed when something bad happens.

The term "toxic positivity" refers to the concept of living which says that persistent positivity is the right way to live life.

It means focusing only on positive things and discarding anything that can cause you negative emotions. But that sounds too good to be true, does it? Because when you deny or avoid unpleasant emotions, you make them even greater.

Avoiding negative emotions is like telling yourself that you shouldn't pay attention to them. But as you believe it to be so, negative emotions become even greater and more significant as they remain unprocessed. Evolutionally, we as humans cannot be "programmed" just for happiness.

By avoiding the "heavy" emotions, you lose valuable environmental information
For example, when you are scared, your emotions say, "Be aware of the environment." Emotions themselves are information. They give you a picture of what is happening at a given moment, but do not tell you exactly what to do or how to respond. If you are afraid of a dog and see one on the pavement, it does not mean you have to cross the street - it means that you perceive the dog as a potential threat. Once a person has identified emotions, he or she decides to either avoid the dog or face the fear.

These people probably give the impression to others that they have no problems. You may find it difficult to connect with them because they ignore grief or distress.

What can you do?
Acceptance of "heavy" emotions helps to cope and reduce the intensity of such feelings. Think about how good you would feel when you were finally able to talk to your partner or parents about how difficult your day was. It's like "unloading a heavy load" from your shoulders and that feeling frees you.

Emotions are not "good" or "bad" and are not only positive or negative. But consider them as guidelines: They help us face problems and overcome them.

Carl Jung said it's better to be whole than good.

Emotions are not only the way we respond to events, but they also convey information that people around us receive. If we are sad, they comfort us, if we feel guilty, they can forgive us.

It is useful to try and see the bright side of things, but it is also important to accept and listen to all your emotions when they are not so pleasant. No one can be positive all the time. And that's all right.

The North Star behaves strangely, and scientists cannot explain why

The North Bear (Alpha Little Bear), also known as a guide star, is the brightest star in the Little Bear constellation. It is located very close to the North Celestial Pole and is currently a polar star. Astrophysicists get data that differs from the information they have so far despite accurate data, while North Star dazzles even the most advanced telescopes. For centuries, this star, located just above the North Pole, has served passengers with a compass-free orientation. Recent research shows that we do not know much about this star and that it does not fit into any star model used by astrophysicists. There are several ways astrophysicists calculate the mass, age, and distance of stars such as the North. One is the method called the "star evolution model". With this method, scientists study the brightness, color, and tempo of the star's pulse, and then use this data to determine the size of the star, the intensity at which it shines and at what stage of lif...
