Elon Musk again promises private space flights

Elon Musk's SpaceX company has signed an agreement with a space tourism agency to organize a trip into Earth's orbit for several adventurous travelers.

Space Adventures, an agency that has organized eight tours to the International Space Station from 2001 to 2009, plans to organize a four-passenger flight on SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft. The journey would be completed by the end of 2021, according to a Space Adventures statement released yesterday.

Passengers will spend a maximum of five days orbiting the Earth, stranded in a 3.96-meter-long spacecraft.

The flight path predicts that private space tourists will fly two to three times the altitude of the orbit of the International Space Station, says Eric Anderson, president of Space Adventures.

It will be the furthest distance from Earth anyone has found in decades, meaning that passengers on this flight will have a sight similar to what astronauts saw on NASA's Gemini 11 mission in 1966, Anderson said on Twitter.

The next step is to find psychophysically healthy people who can afford the expensive flight. A spokesman for Space Adventures said the cost of the trip would be "within the scope of other spaceflight opportunities", which have so far reached tens of millions of dollars.

NASA is also due to give the Crew Dragon a Certificate of Human Transmission, expected in the next few weeks. The SpaceX spacecraft completed major tests in January.

SpaceX received $ 2.6 billion from NASA in 2014 to develop the Crew Dragon spacecraft. Boeing has reached a similar deal valued at $ 4.2 billion for the development of the Starliner spacecraft.

NASA plans to use both aircraft to keep the International Space Station steady and fully staffed by professionally trained astronauts. However, Boeing and SpaceX will be able to operate their own aircraft and may use them for other types of missions, including space tourism.

Both companies are already using these opportunities. Boeing signed a contract with Space Adventures in 2010 to coordinate flights for non-astronauts with the Starliner spacecraft.

It should be noted that plans to send space-rich adventurers into space were often delayed or at least tolerated many changes to the schedule.

Last year, for example, the company Bigelow Aerospace promised to arrange trips to the International Space Station with SpaceX's Crew Dragon. The company planned to sell tickets for about $ 52 million per person, but such plans were later canceled.

In 2017, SpaceX talked about sending tourists flying around the moon with the Crew Dragon capsule. The company abandoned such plans to focus on designing and constructing a giant spacecraft and a rocket system called Starship, which is currently at an early stage of development.

Space Adventures is currently the only company to coordinate private travel flights around the Earth. The Virginia-based company has partnered with Russia to use its Soyuz spacecraft to deliver ultralight clients to the MBS. These missions cost about $ 20 million per person.

SpaceX said they were pleased to work with the Space Adventures team and that "the historic mission will pave the way for enabling space flights for all the people who dream of it."

Two other US companies, Richard Branson's Virgin Galactica and Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin, are individually developing space tourism aircraft. They will offer short flights about 97 kilometers above the Earth's surface from which travelers will have a nice view and experience weightlessness in minutes.

SpaceX lost its Falcon 9 after the successful launch of Starlink satellites

SpaceX successfully launched a new set of 60 Starlink satellites but was left without a Falcon 9 rocket. After the launch was complete, the rocket was to return to a drone ship, but missed it and ended up in the sea. This is the first such case in nearly 4 years, the last Falcon 9 rocket missed a drone ship in June 2016 The rocket was previously used for the CRS-17 mission in May 2019, then for the CRS-18 mission in July 2019, and for the December 2019 mission. Successful landings have had a positive impact on the business success of the company as the more rockets it saves the more it can use for the next launch, thereby reducing costs. It is not known why the rocket missed the landing target. Maybe you want to read about  The new Fortnite brings a bullied cat, balloon riding and Deadpool.
