NASA is calling on you to choose a name for the new rover going to Mars

NASA's new rover, which is due to land on Mars in February 2021, has no name yet, so the US space agency has called on students and students to name it.

The rover will be launched in July this year by Cape Canaveral in Florida and is expected to land on the Cicero Crater on Mars on February 18, 2021. The mission is expected to last at least one Martian year, or 678 days counted on Earth.

To attract interest in the mission and to inspire young people to study physics, technology, engineering, and mathematics, or the sciences and disciplines that enable space exploration, NASA sponsored the Name the Rover Challenge. The terms were: The rover's name must not exceed 50 letters and symbols, and the essay should contain a maximum of 150 words. A student or student can apply for a single essay and essay. The name may not coincide with other NASA space missions or programs to date. A real person's name may be suggested, but it must be dead.

Children across the United States, from preschoolers to high school students, have proposed 28,000 names, of which 155 have entered the semifinals and nine have been nominated in the final.

They can be voted on by NASA's online poll, which runs until January 27.
